First Moodle Training Session for MSc in Digital Health
The MSc Program in Digital Health is hosting its first Moodle Training Session to help newly enrolled students navigate our primary Learning Management System.
This hands-on orientation will cover accessing course materials, submitting assignments, tracking grades, and communicating with instructors. Attendance is strongly recommended for a smooth start to the academic year.

Advances Alzheimer’s Neurovascular Research
The MSc Program in Digital Health highlights the research involvement of faculty member Prof. Savvas Christoforidis in studying the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease.
His project, titled "Analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and proteomic profiling of iPSC-generated vascular endothelial cells from Alzheimer’s patients", aims to identify why amyloid-beta ($A\beta$) clearance across the blood-brain barrier
is reduced, leading to amyloid accumulation in Alzheimer’s pathology. By combining GWAS and proteomic profiling on patient-derived iPSC vascular cells, this work seeks critical insights into neurovascular health and potential therapeutic targets.

Contributes to the Horizon Europe APOLLO Project Framework through FORTH
The Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems (MEDLAB, University of Ioannina) and the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI-FORTH) announce the participation of Dr. Vasileios C. Pezoulas in the APOLLO Project (Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence). APOLLO is a 6-year initiative aimed at establishing an autonomous Centre of Excellence in Athens to harness Extended Reality, Artificial Intelligence (AI/GenAI), Digital Twins, and Medical Robotics in healthcare, targeting the training of over 5,000 healthcare professionals. Working within Prof. Dimitrios I. Fotiadis’s group, Dr. Pezoulas will contribute through FORTH to the AI and Digital Twins activities, developing advanced patient-specific simulations to enhance medical education and clinical decision-making.

Vertical Health: Faculty Member Dr. Georgios Dafoulas Joins as Medical Consultant
MSc faculty member Dr. Georgios Dafoulas serves as Medical Consultant for AI-Driven Secondary Use of Health Databases at PHAROS AI Factory's Vertical Health. This strategic European/national initiative leverages High-Performance Computing (HPC) and advanced AI capabilities to securely re-use health data (such as EHRs) for medical research, fostering responsible AI and driving innovation across healthcare ecosystems.
